Nancy Davitt Kennedy passed away peacefully on Monday (Sept. 25, 2013) at Villa Scalabrini in Sun Valley Calif., where she had resided for three years. She was born Feb. 18, 1938, in Fairmont, the daughter of the late Mary R. and William M. Kennedy.
Nancy was a member of St. Peter’s Parish in Fairmont and attended St. Peter’s grade and high schools.
She is survived by her brother, Richard Kennedy of Fillmore, N.Y.; sisters, Clare Algier of Reading, Pa., Maureen Wolfe of Fairmont, Margaret Muncey of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Barbara Rojas (Fernando) of Los Angeles; and 22 nieces and nephews. She was godmother to two nephews, Michael Rojas and James Wolfe.
Nancy moved to the San Fernando Valley area of California in 1970, near family members. She was employed with Answer Services and later Davis Research. She enjoyed family get-togethers, playing piano, working work puzzles, playing Euchre and bowling. She prized her many bowling trophies. Nancy made friends wherever she went and was known for her smile and her contagious laugh.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Anne Devlin and Martha Hebblethwaite.
A memorial Mass will be offered Sunday in St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Reseda, Calif. Final interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Fairmont at a later time.
