Anna Mae Marcotte was born May 14, 1919 in Purcell, Oklahoma; one of nine children born to the farm family of Joseph "Joe" Marcotte and Mary Lena (Moisant) Marcotte.
Anna Mae attended St. Elizabeth Academy in Purcell. Anna Mae's sister introduced her to August Christopher Lehman. He was a farmer and airplane mechanic. They were married on August 5, 1941. Anna Mae and August shared 61 years of marriage before his passing in 2002. They were blessed with seven children, 16 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.
Anna Mae enjoyed sewing, reading, flower gardening and dancing. Her favorite song was "Always". She lived a life of service volunteering at St. Ann Nursing Home, Homeroom Mother and the Sacred Heart Altar Society. She was a member of the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women, Moose Lodge and the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Group. The Diocesan Council of Catholic Women presented her with the "Lady of Achievement Award".
CENTENARIANS OF OKLAHOMA was proud to honor Anna Mae (Marcotte) Lehman on the occasion of her 100th birthday and induct her into the CENTENARIANS OF OKLAHOMA HALL OF FAME. She lived 102 years and six months. Her centenarian file will be sent to the Oklahoma Historical Society in Oklahoma City to become a permanent part of Oklahoma History.
