Phillip Sr. died on January 6, 187_, in Corvell, Texas, and was buried in Linn Flat Cemetery, Nacogdoches County, Texas. However, there is an issue regarding the exact location of his interment. Two cemeteries in Nacogdoches County share the name "Linn Flat Cemetery." One lies to the northeast of a large clearing, and the other is to the west of it—separated by only about a mile.
After thorough research, I believe with some degree of certainty that the correct cemetery has been identified. We do know that Phillip Sr.'s wife is also buried in the same cemetery. This supports the assumption that we've selected the right location.
Additionally, there was only one recorded burial in the other Linn Flat Cemetery prior to Phillip Sr.'s death. There are no individuals with the surname Owens listed in that cemetery to date, whereas the chosen Linn Flat Cemetery does contain other Owens family members.
Emmie Owens Hieronimus is also buried in Linn Flat Cemetery.
