DOVER Edward S. Stover, Sr., 96, entered into rest at 10:43 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2015, at Pleasant Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was the loving husband of Ann I. (Lamparter) Stover. The couple celebrated 67 years of marriage on June 19, 2015. Born March 8, 1919, in Luray, Va., Edward was a son of the late John and Carrie (Fox) Stover. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1942-1945 in the Pacific Theatre. Edward retired following 43 years of service for Rutter's Dairy, Inc., where he was a plant manager. Edward was a member of St. David's E.C. Church in Dover and West York VFW Post 8951. He enjoyed reading, gardening, hunting, mall walking, visiting the beach, and surf fishing. In addition to his wife, Edward is survived by three sons, Edward S. Stover, Jr. and wife, Deborah of York, James M. Stover and wife, Kathy of York, and Joel A. Stover and companion, Lynn Horn of Dover; four grandchildren, Jennifer Stover, Amy Stover, Edward S. Stover, III, and Alexis Stover; and a great-granddaughter, Piper Stover. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Roy, Frank, John, and Ralph Stover; and three sisters, Virginia Quickel, Mary Ruth Stover, and Carrie Hahn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Edward's funeral at 12 noon on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at Emig Funeral Home, 47 N. Queen St., Dover. Burial will follow in Quickel Cemetery where veteran's honors will be presented by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Officiating will be his pastor, the Rev. N. Patrick Teaford.
