C. Thomas (Tom) Wein, age 72, Tuesday, August 20, 1996 at Kobacker House. Retired professional in the field of Alcoholism Recovery. He was Catholic by faith, attended St. Charles Seminary and graduated from Rosary High School in 1941. He received a BA Degree in Social Work from O.S.U. and a MA Degree in Public Health Administration from Xavier University and a MA Degree in Public Administration from Central Michigan. He was a WW II European Theatre Veteran. Retired Chief Warrant Officer in 1968 from the U.S. Army after 26 years of service. Received the Purple Heart with an Oak Leaf Cluster. He was instrumental in the development of the first Alcoholic In-patient Recovery Unit at Riverside Hospital. Charter member of the Board of Trustees of the House of Hope. Former member of the Board of Trustees for Foxfire Condominiums. Founding staff of Maryhaven Coed Rehabilitation Center on Alum Creek Dr. Former Executive Director of Ohio Association of Alcoholism Programs. Independent consultant in the field of Alcoholism in the Central Ohio area, including Mercy Hospital, Talbot Hall and Parkside. Former instructor of the O.S.U. Summer Institute for Addictions Studies. He was also a member of the Advisory Board for the State of Ohio Prevention Task Force. Preceded in death by parents D. Frederick (Fred) Wein and Mary Grace Houston, brothers Joseph C. Wein and Francis (Pete) F. Wein and sister Mary Margaret McAvoy. Survived by wife, Lee Colley-Brown Wein; daughters, Carol Wenstadt of Whitehall, Maureen (Mike) Keebaugh of Atlanta, Ga., Grace Wein of Chicago, Ill. and Denise (John) Litle of Zanesville, Oh.; step-children, Lindsay (Phil) English of Westlake, Oh., Jim (Karen) Keck of Concord, Mass. and Krista Keck of Longmont, Colo.; 9 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; brother, Kenneth (Dick) H.
