Dora G. Canales, 82, was called home on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 in Okeene, Oklahoma after a short illness. She was born on March 16, 1932 in Crestonia, Texas to her parents Tiburcio and Guadalupe Gonzalez. August 22, 1951 she married Jose O. Canales in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, and they were married for 57 years. They resided in Realitos until 1999 then they moved to Okeene, Oklahoma until her death. She was member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Realitos, Texas, and although she was unable to attend church she was devoted to her catholic faith and received communion every week from St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Okeene, Oklahoma. She was a homemaker and caregiver and enjoyed making tamales, quilting, playing bingo and going to gamble at the casinos.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose O. Canales, her parents; one brother, Valerio Gonzalez; a grandson, Todd Jordan.

Dora is survived by her two sons, Joe (Pam) Canales of Baytown, Texas; Reymundo (Norma) Canales of Premont, Texas; six daughters, Clementina (Hilario) Arredondo of Benavides Texas; Virginia (Ruben Sr.) Leal of Okeene, Oklahoma; Hilda (Joe) Perez of San Antonio, Texas; Gracie (Gary) Jordan of Okeene, Oklahoma; Sandra (Miguel) Linares of Cluster City, Oklahoma; Maria (Gabino) Garcia of Okeene, Oklahoma; four brothers, Juan C. (Estefana) Gonzalez of Mathis, Texas; Baldemar C. (Ramona) Gonzalez of Fort Worth, Texas; Antonio C. (Esperanza) Gonzalez Sr., and Jesus C. (Elvira) Gonzalez Sr., both of Mathis, Texas; four sisters, Julia G. Villarreal of Benavides, Texas; Maria G. Benitez and Cruz G Rodriguez both of Donna, Texas Angelita G. Sierra of Baytown, Texas; one sister –in-law, Dionicia A. Gonzalez of Tulare, California; 25 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at the Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Realitos, Texas. Interment will follow at the Realiots Cemetery in Realitos, Texas.
