GUEYDAN ? Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at First Baptist Church of Gueydan for Lillian Daniel Doss, 107, who died Monday, March 1, 2004, at her home in Gueydan.
Interment will be in Gueydan Cemetery.
The Rev. Vernon Martindale will be officiating the services.
Lillian was born in Indian Territory, Okla. She grew up in Star Hill. After graduating Teachers College, she accepted a teaching position in Gueydan. She met and married T.J. Doss, owner of Doss & Son Mercantile. Mrs. Doss was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Gueydan, and she and T.J. donated money for the Fellowship Hall, which was named in her honor. Honors too numerous to mention came her way because of her involvement in church and civic affairs.
She is survived by a sister, Lottie Daniel Orwin, of Somerset, Ky., and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, T.J. Doss; five brothers, Claude, John Jr., Oscar, Robert and Warren Daniel Sr.; three sisters, Ella Lee Edwards, Mona Mae Sibley and Mabel Berringer; and her parents, John I. Daniel Sr. and the former Alice Butt.
Visitation will be observed from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Vincent Funeral Home and will continue from 9 a.m. Wednesday until time of services at First Baptist Church of Gueydan.
