Louise Claire Linehan was born in Boston to Daniel Joseph Linehan and Mary Teresa (Welch) Linehan.
She was the second oldest of four children. She had two sisters, Marie Julia and Marjorie, and one brother, Daniel Jr.
Massachusetts remained Louise's home all her life. She was born in Boston and spent the majority of her life in Brookline. Her father, Daniel, worked in real estate. Her mother, Mary, was a parlor maid.
A graduate of Lesley University, she became a medical secretary. This job ultimately led her to meet her husband, Deron Roopenian, her boss's nephew. They shared an amazing connection and had an unbreakable bond like no other. Even as they grew older, they always loved each other deeply. They spent their time at the orchestra and walking through the city, talking for hours. The two maintained a steady relationship for ten years before they married. When the time came, Deron had to report for military service in Alabama. Louise was set on going with him, so they decided to get married.
Later on in life, she decided she wanted to become a school teacher. She returned to college, earned her teaching degree, and became a kindergarten teacher. She taught kindergarten for many years before retiring. She absolutely adored working with children. Although she and her husband never had children of their own, they doted on their nieces and nephews and, when they had children, cared for them as well. She always took them out to lunch and spent time with them. Matt Garrett's on Harvard Avenue, a former staple of Brookline's Coolidge Corner, was her favorite lunch spot.
Louise passed away on May 11th, 1993, at the age of eighty-eight. She was laid to rest on May 14th.
She is buried at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge alongside her husband, Deron. They are resting in the Roopenian family plot adjacent to his parents. She was preceded in death by her parents, her older sister, Marie, her brother, Daniel Jr., as well as her husband, Deron.
Our family remembers her fondly for her selfless nature. She was incredibly sweet. She was always there to lend a helping hand and loved spending time with her family—a radiant light to everyone lucky enough to know her. She is deeply missed.
