Lucius B. Carter
Lucius B. Carter, 85, of Oaklawn Avenue, LaVale, died yesterday at Springfield State Hospital where he was admitted Friday.
Born at Kilmarnock, Va., he was a son of the late Payton T. and Maria (Beatty) Carter. Mr. Carter was a former forester for the State Department of Forest and Parks and later operated a fish market in Cumberland. Mr. Carter was a principal organizer and charter member of the LaVale Volunteer Fire Company and also served as a past president of the unit. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
His wife, Minnie (Carl) Carter, preceded him in death. His only survivors are several nieces and nephews. The body is at the Kight Funeral Home and will be taken to the LaVale Fire Hall today at 5 p.m. where memorial services will be conducted by Rev. Albert Burkhardt. The body will remain there until 2 p.m. Wednesday when additional services will be conducted. Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.
