Ted Pointer, 76, of Marshall, MO, died Monday, November 24, 2014, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 29, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 28, 2014, at the church. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to New Salem Baptist Church or Fitzgibbon-Mary Montgomery Hospice in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Born April 5, 1938, in Saline County, MO, Ted was the son of the late Huston Homer Pointer and Katie Margaret Watters Pointer. On December 19, 1956, in Marshall, MO, he married Frances Mae (Francie) Halsey, who preceded him in death on August 15, 2004. He lived in Saline County most of his life where he was a farmer, retired from ConAgra Frozen Foods and worked at Marshall Municipal Airport. He was a member of New Salem Baptist Church
Survivors include four children, Huston (Huey) Pointer and wife, Linda, of rural Marshall, Laura (Laurie) Liesemeyer and husband, Brett, of Sedalia, MO, Ronald (Ronnie) Pointer and wife, Kelley, of rural Marshall and Tim Pointer and wife, Susan, of rural Marshall; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; five siblings, Homer Pointer of Marshall, Lloyd Bentley of rural Marshall, Frances Davis of rural Hardeman, MO, John Pointer of Marshall and Jim Pointer of St. Louis, MO; numerous nieces and nephews; companion and longtime friend, Shirley Fox of Marshall.
In addition to his parents, stepmother, Edna Bentley Pointer, and wife, Ted was preceded in death by five brothers, Henry, Joe, Roy, William R. (Bill) Pointer and Frank Bentley; and one sister, Margaret Farnell.
