Mary Etta Trester was the daughter of Silas Spencer Trester and Emaline Staten. She was the second wife of Deacon Tarvin Cougill Wright of Manhattan, Indiana. She married him on 17 April 1889 in Manhattan, Putnam County, Indiana. She bore him twins on November 17, 1894, Flonnie Bell Wright and Flossie Dell Wright. Flonnie Bell, my grandmother, said that the doctor didn't know there were twins and so after the birth of my grandmother, they realized too late that Flossie existed. She was underweight and sickly so only lived a few days and is buried in the Manhattan cemetery next to her mother. The Manhattan Cemetery was located across the street from my grandmother's house down a dirt road surrounded by farm land.
While Mary Etta only had the one living daughter, she was mother to Tarvin's 5 children. However, when they married, Tarvin had shipped the children to relatives to have time alone with his new bride. Slowly they began to come home, until all five were in the small log cabin in Manhattan. These four boys and one girl loved Mary Etta and treated her like a queen. They all thought she was a saint.
