Linda was born August 23, 1944. She spent her early years in logging camps in the Lebanon, OR area where her dad Lawrence was a logger and her mother Mary Wanda worked as a cook and waitress.Her brother Lawrence Duane was born in 1947. The family lived in the Sara and Ridgefield areas of Southwest Washington during her school years and she was one of 50 Seniors to graduate from Ridgefield High in 1961.She married her high school sweetheart Bill Griffith and they had two children: son Troy Dean and daughter Gwen Dawn. Gwen died at age 13 in the crash of United Airlines Flight 731 (December 28, 1978). After a few interim positions, Linda began a 12 1/2 year stint with the Vancouver Police Department in 1969 and took pride in being one of the few policewomen in the Department in the 1970's. A highlight of her last week was a visit from Police Chief James McElvain, who presented her with a Department "Challenge Coin" and an updated uniform patch.Linda loved people and took every opportunity to make new friends. Linda is survived by her son, Troy Griffith (Teresa); granddaughter, Samantha Fritz (Jared) with great-grandson, Kaden Fritz; and grandson, Tyler Griffith.Linda was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Hoisington; her mother, Mary Palmer; her brother, Duane Hoisington; her daughter, Gwen Griffith; and her husband, Jack Selfridge.Per Linda's wishes, there will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Linda's favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Memorial Hospital. StJude.org
