The birth of Jean Claude Joseph Adonis Faivre, son of Alexandre Faivre (1761-1836) and his wife Jeanne Françoise Jeannin (1773-1833), was recorded in the registry of births in the town Levier, France.

He married Jeanne Eloise Cordier on 23 November 1841 in Levier. Together with their five children, the Faivre (later "Favier") family sailed on the ship "Old England" arriving at the port of New Orleans, Louisiana on 21 October 1852.

Those children who made the journey were Sophie "Josephine" (Favier) Weisler (1842-1924); Marie Louise (Favier) Callier (1844-1875); Genereuse Arsene Favier (1845-c1905), Jean Louis Alfred Favier (1847-1935); and Marie Eloise "Elizabeth" Favier (1851-1864).

Two more children, Joseph Alex (1856-1847) and Alphonse (1859-1862) were born in Missouri. Like their Cinque Hommes neighbors, the Faviers were farmers.
