Age 70, died unexpectedly Thursday evening. He was born February 13, 1908 in Sherwood and was an Appleton resident most of his life.
He was employed at John Strange Paper Company for over 30 years until his retirement in 1970. Mr. Schmidt was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society and the Quarter Century Club of John Strange Paper Company.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy (Janssen); four brothers: Joe, Appleton; Peter, Hilbert; John, Menasha; George, Rt. 4, Kaukauna; a sister, Mrs. Francis (Marie) Koller, Menasha. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Fred.
The complete funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Ionald Schneider officiating. Interment will be Sacred Heart Cemetery, Sherwood. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Wichmann Funeral Home and after 8 a.m. Monday until the cortege leaves for the church. The rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock Sunday evening.
