Family lore has it that Elizabeth Harland is related to the Harlands of Harland and Wolff Shipyard, Belfast Northern Ireland. They built the famous ship Titanic. This connection has never been verified although a branch of the Harlands did have roots in the North Riding of Yorkshire and seem to have emigrated to Ireland and may well be connected to Harland and Wolff. Whether or not Elizabeth Harland is connected to these Harlands is not, as yet, known. However to preserve the Harland connection, Harland has been used as a middle name on occasion for boys of the family. Elizabeth died in the Town of Whitby. Her grandson Frank Gibson lived with her until she died.
