Josephine Vera Herring, 77 years, of Seneca, Mo., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015, at her daughter's home, in Seneca, with her loving family by her side.

She was born on March 19, 1938, in Anderson, Mo., to the late Paul Silas and Gladys Irene (Hodson) Garrett. She lived most of her life in Seneca.

Josephine married Melvin Bennett on Oct. 1, 1956, in Anderson, Mo., and to this union four children were born.

On Dec. 4, 1999, she married Lewis Herring at the Hart Community Church.

She enjoyed sewing, embroidery and short road trips, just getting out and going. Her family was very precious to her and she cherished time spent with them. Josephine was attending the Seneca Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands, Melvin Bennett and Lewis Herring.

Josephine is survived by her children, Kevin Bennett, Lynna Testerman, Melva King and husband, Shawn, Lisa Bennett, all of Seneca; five step-children, Robert Herring, of Seneca, Linda Bridges of Neosho, Mo., Jane Ball, of Seneca, Donna Smith of Tulsa, Okla., Susan McKee, of Seneca; three brothers, Junior Garrett, Ronnie Garrett and Tony Garrett, all of Wichita, Kan.; a sister, Kathy Schwei, of Wisconsin; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; along with a host of other relatives and friends who will dearly miss Josephine and her kind, loving nature.

Funeral services for Josephine will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, at the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service in the New Bethel Cemetery, in Anderson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3.
