Ben D. Clevenger, 79, of Quincy, formerly of Camp Point, died Wednesday (Nov. 24, 2010) at Sycamore Healthcare Centre in Quincy.
Born July 1, 1931, in Quincy, Ben was the son of Oren and Edith Hufnagel Clevenger. He married Marcia Kestner March 6, 1953, in Clayton. She survives.
Mr. Clevenger was a retired farmer and had been employed at the Electric Wheel in Quincy for many years. A 1949 graduate of Maplewood High School in Camp Point, Ben served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Quincy.
Survivors in addition to his wife are three sons, Chris (Michele) Clevenger of Quincy, Cameron (Christine) Clevenger of Liberty, and Paul Clevenger of Quincy; four daughters, Renee (Mike) Benedetto of Quincy, Tammy (Guye) Dedert of Quincy, Shanzelle Clevenger of Quincy, and Carmell (Jim) Fitch of Quincy; 16 grandchildren, Richelle (Mike) Anderson, Ryne Lubben, Amanda (Steve) Spilker, Jessie and Erica Dedert, Shaelynn Dreyer, Ethan, Tanner, Cailin, Ciera, Connor, Piper, and Chance Clevenger, Alex, Victoria, and Audrea Fitch; three great-grandchildren, Addison Spilker and Lucas and Avery Anderson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Matthew Dean Clevenger.
SERVICES: 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church 2701 College by the Rev. Martin Eden. Burial with military honors will be at Evergreen Cemetery at Camp Point.
VISITATION: 6 to 8 tonight in Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Quincy.
MEMORIALS: Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or the Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
ARRANGEMENTS: Lummis-Hamilton Funeral Home in Camp Point.
