Paul L. Oberg, 74, of Brookdale Manor, Coventry, formerly of Mishnock Road, West Greenwich, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 26, 2015.

Born in Cranston, he was a son of the late George and Astrid (Matteson) Oberg.

Father to Heather E. Gazerro and her husband Dr. Andrew Gazerro III of Coventry and Derek L. Oberg of Illinois; grandfather to Addison E. and Brayton N. Gazerro. Paul was the long term companion to Virginia Bainton of Warwick, and the brother of Ken Oberg and Walter Oberg.

Paul graduated from Cranston High School and the University of Connecticut. He ran Cross Country in High School and was All State in Track. In addition, he was a former record holder in Track at UConn. Paul served in the Army as a Physical Therapist at Ft. Carson and at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Denver, Colorado during the Vietnam War. He was the Physical Therapy Director at Kent Hospital for 35 years before his retirement in 2001 and was honored Employee of the Year in 1999.

He worked with handicapped athletes in RI, and also with the RI Interscholastic Injury Fund. He was a volunteer for Meals On Wheels. Paul enjoyed rollerblading, cross- country skiing, biking and kayaking.

Visiting hours will be Friday evening, December 4, 2015 from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm, with a Memorial Service at 6:30 pm in the Iannotti Funeral Home, 415 Washington St. (Rte.117), Coventry.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul's name to the RI Community Food Bank, 200 Niantic Ave., Providence, RI 02907 (www.rifoodbank.org) would be appreciated.
