Funeral services for John Travis Brown, age 73, of Lindale, Texas are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Lindale Church of Christ by Bro. Kris Emerson. Under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home, he will be laid to rest in Hopewell Community Cemetery just outside of Lindale where he grew up and enjoyed a life full of family and loved ones. John died on Thursday, December 3, 2015 in Tyler, Texas. He was born on July 28, 1942 to the late Thomas Edwin and Beatrice Alice "Sweetie" (Johnson) Brown and was raised in the Hopewell Community. John served in the United States Air Force, on the Lindale Rural Water Board, was a lifelong electrician, and most recently served on the Smith County Emergency Services Board, District #1. As a Deacon of Lindale Church of Christ and a true servant of his Lord and community, John's presence will leave an indelible mark in the hearts of all who knew him. John was also preceded in death by his brothers Thomas, Frank and Robert Brown and Robert's wife Vicki. John is survived by the love of his life and wife of 56 years, Carolyn McClenny Brown; sons, William Travis "Bill" & Sandy Brown and Kevin John Brown & Lance; daughters, Mary Alisa & Charles Evans and LaDena Carol Stringer & Tim; sisters, Laverne & Doug Wood, Edwina & James Granberry and Mary Alice & Fred Wilkerson; brothers, Joe & Nancy Brown and Steve & Dianne Brown; 9 adored grandchildren -- Natasha Cuellar, Megan McGuinness, Ben Earls, Natalie Brown, Jared Evans, Alayna Goldsmith, Jonathon McLemore, Hayden Paul and Travis Stringer; a blessing of 14 great grandchildren; a recent great great grandchild; an abundance of nieces, nephews and the entire McClenny family. Serving as pallbearers will be Louie Brown, Clark Dugger, Rex Lee, Andrew Marshall, Bill Summerville and Ken Vaughn. Honorary pallbearers are Elders and Deacons of Lindale Church of Christ. The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. prior to the service at Lindale Church of Christ.
