Randall A. Swedlund, 25, died Tuesday, April 12 in a Kearney hospital after an extended illness.
He was born March 10, 1952, in Kearney to Carl and Mildred Thompson Swedlund. He grew up in Gibbon, graduating from Gibbon High School in 1970 and attended Norfolk Junior College.
He and Cathryn Thomas were married February 14, 1974 in Gibbon and made their home in Hastings. They later moved back to Gibbon, where he worked for the Gibbon Packing Co.
Survivors include his widow, Cathryn of Gibbon; a daughter Misty of Gibbon; his father and step-mother Mr. and Mrs. Carl Swedlund of Gibbon; two brothers Marvin of Grand Island and Richard of Gibbon; a sister, Dorothy Holl of Upland and a step-sister, Betty Coufal of McCook.
He was preceded in death by his mother in 1956.
Services were held Friday April 15 at the Faith United Church with the Rev. Alvin E. Trucano, pastor of the church officiating. Soloist was John Lusk with Mrs. Avnelle Lauer as organist.
Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Pall bearers were Don Miller, Lee Slater, Larry Butler, Ronald Pooschke, Dennis Gove and Roland Spencer.
Memorials are planned to Gibbon Faith United Church and the American Cancer Society.
