Vivian was born on July 12, 1939 to the late Roy and Marjorie Rodgers in Kansas City MO. She married Joel K. Smith on December 26, 1956 and together they raised a family in Fayetteville.
Vivian graduated from FTCC and was recognized in the book of Who’s Who. She worked in the banking field for many years. Vivian was passionate about animals and her love for everyone was unconditional.
Vivian is survived by her husband, Joel Smith and three sons, Dennis and wife Anita, David and wife Becky and Robert and wife Diane. Also surviving is her son-in-law, Pete Gunn of Lakeland, FL. She is preceded in death by her only daughter, Tammy Gunn of Lakeland FL. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 9 am Thursday, July 21, 2016 in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 8-9 am prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Cape Fear Cancer Center 1638 Owen Drive Fayetteville, NC 28304.
