Edna Ruth McMillan Osborne,
age 83 of 179 Combs Street, Sparta, NC passed away Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Alleghany Memorial Hospital in Sparta.
She was born February 9, 1933 in Chester County, PA to the late James F. McMillan and Minnie Evans McMillan Thornton.
She was a humble and gentle woman who was a blessing to those who knew her.
Instead of building treasures on this earth, she stored up treasures in heaven.
She is survived by one son, Larry Osborne and wife Karen of Boone; one daughter, Colleen LaRock and husband Bill of Oakboro; nine grandchildren, Stacy Greer and husband Josh of West Jefferson, Andrew Wyatt and wife Courtney of Colorado Springs, CO, Brad Osborne and wife Bunny of Boone, Matthew Osborne and wife Sarah of Boone, Billy LaRock, Cassie Price and husband Tyler, Chrissie Bigham and husband Avery, Suzanne Crot and husband Chris, Aimee LaRock; twelve great-grandchildren, Savannah Greer, Sierra Greer, Sheyenne Greer, Natalie Osborne, Daniel Osborne, Norah Osborne, Isaac Osborne, Ellie Osborne, Jayden Bigham, Blake Bigham, Braxton Crot, Korie Price; one brother, John Frank McMillan of Sparta; one sister, Margaret Ammons of Mount Holly; two brothers-in-law, Gayle E. Osborne and wife Geneva of Hillsville, VA, Lavon Newberry and wife Betty of Stanleyville; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service to honor the life of Edna at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2017 in the chapel of Grandview Memorial Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in the South Fork Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Christian charity of the donor's choice, or to Genesis Healthcare Alleghany Center, 179 Combs Street, Sparta, NC 28675.
