Enrolled as a Private in Company "B" McLaughlin's Squadron, Ohio Volunteer Calvary. Captured 1 Jan 1862 in Kentucky. In confinement at Pound Gap on 15 Jan 1862. Horse and accountrements appropriated. Prisoner of War. Discharged 21 May 1862. Per Granddaughter Edie Allen - Her grandfather was a Prisoner of War at Libby Prison, a Confederate prison for Union soldiers. He was sent home, water-mud-filth, had no memory of the war. He died at home in 1864 in Ohio and was buried at the Elida, Ohio Church Cemetery, Trinity Lutheran Church. "Because the stones were so weathered and many broken, they were cleared away." A Memorial Plaque is located inside the church.
