Hans A. Sweum, a well known and highly respected pioneer resident of this city died at his home here Monday the 18th. He was born at Soknedalen, Norway, Dec. 29, 1845. He migrated to America 47 years ago and immediately entered the employ of the North Western Lumber Co. and during these 47 years had been uninterruptedly in the employ of this one company, a record rarely equalled. He is survived by an invalid wife, three sons and five daughters, Arnt of Fairmount, North Carolina; Mrs. Oluf Aare, Stanley; Ole, Mrs. Arnold Wright, and Miss Agnes of Deer River, Minn.; Edward of Duluth and Misses Amalia and Helen of Stanley.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Reishus from the Lutheran Church on Wednesday.
