William Kunerth 82. Porofessor of physics at Iowa State University, died at Mary Greeley Hospital. Born on a farm in LaCross County Wis. he was valedictorian of his high school class and received his B.A, and M.A. degrees from tne University of Wisconsin. He received the Ph.D cum laude from the University of Chicago. Dr. Kunerth taught in country schools and in the high school at Superior, Wis. and in the Teachers College there.
He joined the faculty of the physics department at Iowa State University in 1907. He published a "Textbook on Illumination," numerous articles and bulletins and translated a chapter Helmholtz's "Physiologic - Optics." He was a consultant on lighting. He was a member of the Optical Society of America, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Illuminating Engineering Society, the National Society for the Prevention of Blindness, the Iowa Academy of Science of which he was the physics chairman for a year, the Society of Scientific Instruments and Sigma Xi. Kunerth was listed "Who's Who in Science," "Who's who In America", and "Who's Who in Engineering." He was a charter member of the Collegiate Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lydia; two daughters, Mrs. R. D Watt, Washington, D.C. and Mrs Ed Bock, St. Louis; seven grandchildren.
