Iva Marion Welsh, age 91 of Port Huron, died March 15, 2010 at the Black River Inn A.F.C. home after a long illness. She was married to Leonard James Welsh for 47 years who preceded her in death. Marion was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church, and participated in Circle 3 at the church. Her greatest joy was her family. She also enjoyed reading, Bible study, and traveling.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Donna (Bill) Lill of Port Huron, and Janet (Mike) Caswell of Goodyear, Arizona; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer (Eric Johnson) Lill of Seattle, Washington, Andrea (Jason) Havel of Prattville, Alabama, Brent (Donna) Caswell of Fort Worth, Texas, and Christy (Mark) Najvar of Houston, Texas; 3 great-grandchildren, Emma and Kayla Havel, and Kaitlyn Najvar; a sister, Marie (Max) Boyes; 3 brothers-in-law, Edward Schultz, Cecil Crull, and Bernard Randolph. She was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Virginia Schultz, Mary Jean Dolan, Donna Crull, and Dorothy Randolph, and a brother-in-law, Bill Dolan. A special thanks to her niece, Pam Carlisle, and Marion's caregivers at the Black River Inn for their loving care and kindness.
A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Monday in the Smith Family Funeral Home - North, 1525 Hancock Street with The Rev. Jim Edwards pastor of the First Congregational Church officiating. A graveside committal service will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Congregational Church.
