"Mrs. Rose Clinkscales
Rose Emma Goin was born Feb. 4, 1859 in Van Buren county, Iowa, and died at her home in Stafford, Kansas, on November 2, 1938, at the age of 79 years, 8 months, and 26 days.
She was the eldest child of Theophilus and Mary Goin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert James Clinkscales, who passed away Feb. 8, 1925, at the home in Stafford, two children, Lou Edith and Edgar William who died in early childhood, her father, mother, one brother, John Tolbert, and sister, Mrs. Gertrude Seaman.
One brother survives her, James Elmer Goin, of Lewis, Kansas.
Mrs. Clinkscales came to Kansas with her father, brother, and sister in 1879, and located on a homestead where she lived until her marriage to Robert James Clinkscales on April 18, 1881.
Five children were born to bless this union; Lou Edith, Mary Lee, Edgar William, Edna Gertrude, and Bourke Hugh.
Mrs. Clinkscales was converted in 1893 and join the United Brethren church at Zion, a congregation located southwest of Stafford.
She retained her membership in this church until the latter part of 1920 when she transferred to the Methodist church at Stafford where she was active in the church and organizations of the church as long as her health permitted.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mary Winchester. Stafford, Mrs. Bert Winchester, Topeka, Kans., one son, Bourke Clinkscales, Stafford, who were present at her bedside when the end came. Also eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren survive.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Methodist church with Rev. R.F. Morgan in charge. Interment in the Stafford cemetery."
