Helen was born in Binghamton, New York (1901-1977). She was named for her paternal grandmother. She was the great granddaughter of Abel Bennett (1818-1889) First Mayor of Binghamton (1867-1869) owner of the Bennett Hotel, the man who came up w the idea to bring coal from the mine to the surface via elevator and the owner of a 55 acre farm that he developed into The Bennett Block of residential lots on Binghamton's West Side.
She married 1923 James Aloysius King (1898-1984) of Yonkers, New York and bore him two children James Millard King (1924-1956) and Elizabeth Louise King (1926-2018).
