Catherine "Katie" Gasawski, 98, of Shiloh, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2023. She was born October 15, 1924 in East St. Louis. She married Julius Gasawski. Katie was a devoted member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caseyville. She served the Lord in many community outreach programs including St. Anne's alter society and the Diaconate program with her husband, Julius. Katie was also a Eucharistic Minister and Reader. She was a member of the Red Hat Society where she built relationships with many women in her community. In her spare time, Katie enjoyed bingo, puzzles, quilting and playing cards. Most importantly, Katie loved her family and would do anything for them. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great-grandmother and friends to many and will be dearly missed.

Survivors left to cherish her memory include her son, Tom Gasawski; granddaughters, Tina (Alvin) Prayer and Mary Reeves; great-grandchildren, Brittany Gasawski, Michaela Long and Autumn Reeves; great-great grandchildren, Kiron, Monroe, Nevaeh, Aaliyah, Dj, MaKayla, Armani and Kingston; brother, Ray Chomicki; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Catie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Julius Gasawski; siblings, Mike Chomicki, Stella Korobey and Mary Luszowski; daughter-in-law, Marsha Gasawski.

A visitation for Katie will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 from 4:00pm – 8:00pm in Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N. Illinois St., Fairview Heights, IL 62208. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at 1:30pm in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made to Society of Mary, Cosgrove's Kitchen or St. Vincent de Paul.
