Carolyn Kay Mapel, 76, of Burlington, died at 3:00 AM Monday, June 18, 2018, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.Born March 24, 1942, in Burlington, she was the son of Carl and Madelyn Adell Eckey Shumaker. On June 18, 1961, she married Richard Neil Mapel in Danville. He later passed on May 26, 2003.She worked for Ritter's Garden Center for around 10 years and was a homemaker. Carolyn graduated from Danville High School in 1960. She was of Methodist Faith. She enjoyed playing cards and gardening. She always had a beautiful, spotless home with a flair for decorating. She was a loving wife and mother who always took care of her family and was a good friend to all. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister Vickie and one brother Steve.
