YORK John E. Kline, Sr., 75, of Manchester Township, died at 12:25 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2007, at Manor Care Health Services South. Born September 5, 1931, in East Manchester Township, a son of the late Charles and Mazie (Shaffer) Kline, he was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War. He first worked at the former Cole Steel until its closing, and most recently, at Harley-Davidson Motor Company, from where he retired. He attended Living Word Community Church and was a sprint car racing fan. Active with sports, he was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, the Boston Red Sox, and the Nittany Lions. He coached Midget Football and Little League Baseball, and participated in Central League Baseball and Softball. He was a member of the Hawk Gunning Club, and was a life member of the Hoppi Hunting Club in Potter County. Mr. Kline is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Shirley F. (Zimmer) Kline of York; a daughter, Jean M. Gerst and her husband, Joe of Sparks, Md.; a son, John E. Kline, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer of Etters; three grandchildren, Joseph Gerst, Shaun Kline, and Katie Kline; and two sisters, Verna Godfrey of York and Florence Good of Steamboat Springs, Colo. He was preceded in death by a brother, George F. Kline. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at William E. Little Funeral Homes, Inc., 60 S. Main St., Manchester. Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, and 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Manchester Union Cemetery, with military rites presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
