Artist. She is remembered as an award-winning Dutch artist who painted numerous still lifes, portraits or florals. She was a member of the Amsterdamse Joffers, which was a group of about a dozen women artists, which included Lizzy Ansingh, Nelly Bodenheim, Therese Schwartze, and Maria Engelina van Regteren Altena. In 1912, this group received the name of Amsterdamse Joffers by art critic, Albert Plasschaert. The group met weekly in the last quarter of the 19th century to share ideas, paint and have art shows. In 1898 she trained at the Rijksakademie van beeldende Kunsten and Joseph Mendes da Costa. Later in her career, she also studied under Coba Ritsema, another Armsterdamse. She was a member of Arti et Amicitiae and the Pulchri Studio in The Hague. Though many of her paintings have been sold at Christie's Auction House, some of her paintings are part of a public collection in Dutch museums such as the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Gemeentemuseum Den Haag and Gemeentemuseum Helmond. She was the recipient of the Willem van Collen award in 1913 and the Gold Medal from Queen Wilhelmina in 1929.
