Mae Frances (Baird) Keeton was born on March 5, 1927 in Nashville, Tennessee, the daughter of Paul Harrington Baird (1896–1964) and Rosa Mae "Rosie" (Longsworth) Baird (1905–1993).
Raised in West Nashville, she attended Cohn High School. She also attended Park Ave Baptist Church throughout her youth and young adulthood.
Mae was married in 1956 to James Wylie Keeton, who served in the US Navy as a medic during World War II. Born about 1925 and died in 2017, he was the son of Burris Edward Keeton (1889–1935) and Lillian Mai ( -- ) Keeton. After their marriage they moved to the Crieve Hall area, they joined a young group of Baptists in the area that had formed their own congregation, Crievewood Baptist, which was their church home for six decades.
Mae Frances was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class. She worked for many years at the Federal Reserve Bank in downtown Nashville. A refined lady and an excellent cook, she was also a thoughtful hostess, an immaculate housekeeper, a talented seamstress and a wise source of counsel.
Still living in Nashville, Mae Frances was 91 years old when she passed away on February 16, 2019.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her son James Michael "Mike" Keeton, her parents, brothers Frank Baird, Harry Baird and William Baird and by her sister Dorothy Anne Baird. Survivors included two daughters, four grandchildren, a sister, two grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held at Crievewood Baptist Church, and burial was in Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.
