Rev. Avery D. Wright born on July 21, 1914 in the state of Illinois the son of the late Valentine Wright and Mary Maude (Hogue) Wright. He passed away on August 10, 1997 in Missouri at the age of 83.
He was united in marriage to Coralie Coffman. He is survived by his wife Coralie, son Lee Ray Wright, and granddaughter Julie.
Rev. Wright was an ordained minister of the Assemblies of God. He pastored several churches in the state of Missouri and served as Presbyter of Section 3 of the Northern Missouri District Assemblies of God. While pastoring the Winfield Assembly of God Church in Winfield, Missouri he left that church in 1968 to pioneer a church in Troy, Missouri. Several of his Winfield members were residents of Troy. He was successful in seeing a new building built and an addition to the building added.
After suffering a heart attack in 1977 he resigned the pastorate in Troy not wanting to hinder the growth of the church. When he retired from the Troy Church, he left the congregation debt free of the new building and addition. Not one to sit idle, in retirement he also served as an associate Pastor of the Assembly of God Church in O'Fallon. After O'Fallon he served as Pastor of the newly organized Assembly of God Church in Elsberry, Missouri. Under his leadership he was also successful in seeing a new church building built in Elsberry.
Rev. Wright was a forward-thinking individual always looking for ways to advance the Kingdom of God and helping others to be successful.
