LYNCHBURG, SOUTH CAROLINA — A pedestrian was struck and killed in an accident in Sumter County, and the driver faces DUI charges, officials said.
Freddy Nance, 64, of Lee County, was struck in the accident that happened at around 5 p.m. Saturday on Trinity Road in Lynchburg, Sumter County Coroner Robert Baker said.
He was taken to McLeod Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, officials said.
The driver, Cindretha Toney, 44, faces a felony DUI charge, officials said.
Officials said an autopsy will be performed on Monday at the Medical University in Charleston.
The coroner's office and South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating the case.
