Mrs. Reese, 79, a longtime High Forest resident and former Olmsted County Health Department employee, died Tuesday (Dec. 11, 2001) at Stewartville Care Center following a short illness.
Anita M. Curtin was born Nov. 22, 1922, in Kasson and graduated from Stewartville High School. On May 9, 1942, she married Gordon D. Reese in Hayward, Minn. They farmed in the High Forest area until his death on Aug. 27, 1987. Mrs. Reese worked at Mayo Clinic, at Midwest Breeders Association in Stewartville, and for many years was a nutrition assistant for the Olmsted County Health Department. In 1998 she moved into Stewartville and entered the care center in July 2001. She was a longtime member of High Forest Community Church, a former treasurer of the High Forest Cemetery Association, a member of the Stewartville Senior Citizens Club, and a volunteer reader at Bonner Elementary School in Stewartville. She enjoyed gardening, reading, baking and bird-watching.
Survivors include a son, Darrell (Ruth) of rural Stewartville; two daughters, Gail (Larry) Lindstrom of Balsam Lake, Wis., and Susan (Eric) Lee of Wyoming, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Hildie Russell of Austin; and two brothers, Richard Curtin of Rochester and Francis Curtin of Austin. A son also preceded her in death.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville and an hour before the service Friday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to High Forest Cemetery.
