Hugh was a son of Mary Jamieson, who was born about 1782 in Walls, Shetland.
Hugh married Christina Law on 31 December 1835 in Tingwall, Shetland.
They were enumerated at Setter in Tingwall, Whiteness, and Weisdale civil parish in the 1841 and 1851 Scotland Censuses, where Hugh was a merchant, landed proprietor, and a Seneralchot (sp.?).
