MIAMI, Fla. — Lucille Tucker McCranie Fricks, 85, of Miami, Fla. and formerly of Thomas and Colquitt County, died Monday, April 20, 2009 in Miami.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, April 24, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Julian Griner officiating. Interment will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Ricky L. McCranie, Anthony W. McCranie, Robert A. McCranie, Jonathan D. McCranie, Richard S. Longabaugh and Kent Jurney.

Born Aug. 26, 1923, in Thomas County, she was the daughter of the late David Russell Tucker and Nettie Clara Bryan Tucker. She was first married to the late Robbie Lee McCranie and together they raised five children near Moultrie. They relocated to Miami in 1957. Following the death of her first husband, she later married Dover Denson Fricks and lived in Valley Head, Ala. for many years. Following his death in 1990, she moved back to Miami to live with her youngest son.

“She will always be remembered as a persevering and loving mother, a true family matriarch, and an amazing southern cook,” her family said.

She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Clydie Mae Tucker Stephens, Pauline Tucker Thompson and Vera Bell Tucker Farmer; and her brothers, Milton H. Tucker, Marvin Tucker and Raiford Tucker.

Surviving are four sons, Robert R. McCranie of Lake Placid, Fla., Tommy W. McCranie and wife Fay of Flag Pond, Tenn., Charles L. McCranie and wife Cathy of Herndon, Va. and Allan McCranie of Miami, Fla.; one daughter, Linda J. McCranie Chong and husband Joe of Miami, Fla.; one sister, Eunice Tucker Turner of Nashville, Ga.; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 23, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
