SIGURD TOLSTAD DIES AT FORT BLISS, TEX.

A second of Winneshiek county's soldiers has passed away while in training camp awaiting more active service. Sigurd Tolstad, who was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas. He had been ill for some days with pneumonia, and death came Monday morning, only a few hours before his father reached his bedside.

Sigurd Tolstad was born July 11th, 1896, and grew to young manhood in Decorah. He enlisted in the army last spring, before his 21st birthday, and was stationed at Jefferson Barracks, Mo., for a short time, later being sent to Fort Bliss, Texas. During his illness he called repeatedly for his father, and Mr. Tolstad left for Fort Bliss last Thurs., having been notified of his son's serious illness. He did not reach the camp, however, until Monday afternoon, and death had come several hours earlier. The body will be brot here for burial and the funeral will probably be held Friday, as the remains are expected tomorrow night.

Sigurd is survived by his father, Olaf Tolstad, of this city, and by five sisters, Ida, Ruby, Gerda, Anna and Hazel, who are sympathized with in the loss of their son and brother.
