Garland Carrington Waddell, Jr., the second born child of Elfreda Lucile Moore and Garland Carrington Waddell, Sr., was born on November 8, 1919 in Richmond, VA. Garland married Mary Genevieve Muse on July 6, 1957; daughter of Plato and Daisy (Lindsey) Muse. Mary was born on October 9, 1918 in Amelia, VA. Mary died on September 4, 1966 and is buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Richmond, VA.

Garland then married Helen Jeanne Campbell on May 31, 1968; daughter of Thomas and Lily (Myers) Campbell. Jeanne was born on March 13, 1923 in Richmond, VA. They divorced on January 27, 1978. Jeanne died on February 7, 2007 and is buried in Riverview Cemetery in Richmond, VA. Garland died on December 20, 2007 and is buried in Maury Cemetery in Richmond, VA.

Garland Carrington Jr., passed away December 20, 2007 at the age of 88. A native Richmonder, he was educated at McGuire's School & Emory and Henry College. He was a WWII veteran of the Army Air Force. In the early 1960s, Mr. Waddell became involved as a volunteer with the Tuckahoe Little League, serving the league in many capacities as coach, manager, board of director, and was president in 1967 and 1968. During this period, Tuckahoe purchased 10 acres on Starling Drive and built a three-diamond complex. The 1968 Tuckahoe National 12-year-old Allstar Team won the local State Southern Region Championship and advanced to the World Series in Williamsport, Pa. This team emerged as United States Champions and was given a local downtown parade upon their return to Richmond. Mr. Waddell continued to serve as a volunteer for over 30 years, was the area's district administrator, and was instrumental in bringing many baseball programs into official Little League Baseball, Inc. He was a former realtor and retired from the Richmond Housing Authority. Surviving relatives are Martin and Bonnie McQueen, John and Richard McQueen, Scott and Christy McQueen, Marc and Carson McQueen; to include great-grandnephews, Graham and Collin McQueen, William and Calvin McQueen; and favorite, Sarah Emerson McQueen, his great-grandniece. Garland was preceded in death by his parents, Garland C. Waddell Sr. and Effie Moore Waddell; his devoted sister, Sara Waddell McQueen. The family will receive friends at Bliley's-Central, 3801 Augusta Ave., from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, where funeral services will be held 12 noon Saturday. Interment to follow at Maury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to McGuire's School Foundation, P.O. Box 7145, Richmond, Va. 23221.
