Born Oct. 25, 1929, to the late Maurice and Florence Meade, Mr. Meade attended schools in Annapolis and served in the Army during the Korean conflict.
At one time he and his brothers owned the Meade Construction Co. He was also a firefighter for the City of Annapolis. He remained an active member of the Eastport Volunteer Fire Department and was a retired captain.
Mr. Meade was a member both of the First Baptist Church of Eastport and Van Buren Street Baptist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 304, the Eastport Democratic Club and the American Legion. His hobbies were gardening and watching sporting events.
Survivors include one son, Gerald Meade Jr. of Annapolis; three daughters, Kathy Patterson and Renee and Ellie Meade, and three sisters, Betty, Winnie and Mary Meade, all of Annapolis; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late Russell, Jack, Marion, Maurice, Ramon and Thelma Meade and Mildred Robinson, Elnora Jacobson and Doris Sensabaugh.
