SEELEY LAKE- Geraldine E. Anderson, 78, of Seeley Lake, passed away in the warmth of her home on Monday, March 10, 2003.
She was born in Chicago on Nov. 13, 1924, the third of four children of William and Lovern Young. Her father was a plumbing contractor who worked on various construction projects in many states and, consequently, the family lived in several states as the children grew up, including Illinois, Pennsylvania, Wyoming and just prior to World War II in Connecticut.
She met and married her second husband in 1943.
The family lived in West Haven until "The Great California Trek of '55," when they moved to California in the summer of that year, eventually settling in San Diego. There she worked for many years as a member of the Retail Clerks Union. In 1964, she met a Montanan whom she married in August 1971.
In 1975, Geri and her husband bought The Merc, a small grocery store in the center of Seeley Lake, Montana which they ran until 1982.
We each have our own memories and experiences with our mom, wife, sister, grandmother and aunt, but in common with all, she was a loving, warm, affectionate, humorous person who despite life's difficulties, always had an outgoing willingness to try something new with a smile on her face and a ready laugh at her lips-roller skating as a young girl, snow-sledding (while pregnant!), playing softball as a young mother, working 2,500-piece puzzles with anyone who shared the passion for the hunt of the right piece, whitewater rafting, snowmobiling and horseback riding in the wilds of Montana in her 50s and 60s.
She lived life to the fullest. We love and miss her very much.
Though Geri has requested that there be no formal services, the family will find plenty of opportunities to continue to remember a wonderful person.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Cremation and Burial Society of the Rockies in Missoula.
