The Garden restaurant stayed in business until 1965 when it was sold to Juan Saizarbitoria. Juanito as he was known had owned the iconic Havana Centro Vasco in Cuba before Castro took over. He opened Miami's Centro Vasco in 1962 at 142 SW 37th Ave and moved it to SW 8h St in 1965. Juan Saizarbitoria passed away at the age of 80 in 1990. Juan Saizarbitoria Jr. ran the restaurant until it finally closed in 1996.
