Shirley Faye (Graham) Barnard, 84, of Sumrall, Mississippi, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 9, 2022 while during hospice and medical care in Birmingham, Alabama.
Shirley was born on September 4, 1937 in Covington County, Mississippi to Lewis and Beulah (Miller) Graham. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Beulah Graham; her sister, Patricia "Pat" Duso, and four of her brothers, L.B. Graham, Cecil Graham, Jim Graham, and Harlon Graham.
Shirley is survived by her four sons, two grandsons, one brother, two sisters, and an abundance of nieces and nephews.
Shirley was a woman of great faith who loved her Lord, her family and friends. She was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church and very much enjoyed the loving fellowship with the church, and the Sumrall community. Shirley truly gave her love unconditionally, she enjoyed meeting new people, simply put, she liked making friends and being around others. Her fondest times were when she spent time with her family, her dear friends, and with the church. Shirley was always on the go, she enjoyed her daily walks, working in her garden, colorful flowers, her Bama football, Bobcats baseball, and the Braves
Shirley spent most of her career in hospital administration. Her career in healthcare began at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham and later at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS. Her Forrest General Hospital career included positions of Wage Administrator and Physician Recruitment. Although she retired in 2002, she went on to serve her community on the Board of Aldermen for the town of Sumrall for a total of 12 years.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Rock Hill Baptist Church, 183 Rock Hill Church Road., Sumrall, MS 39482 with Visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Interment will be in the Rock Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
