SHIRLEY/ THE VILLAGES, FL: Patricia A. (Hoylie) Thorsen, 77, of Shirley and the The Villages, Florida, died Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at her home in Florida.
Patty was born in Springfield, NY, March 3, 1945 a daughter of Robert V. and Viola G. (Meehan) Hoylie.
She was a 1963 graduate of Ayer High School and served as the Class Secretary. Patty continued her education at Belknap College in Center Harbor, NH and later received her Masters Degree from Lesley University in Cambridge.
Pat was dedicated to the education of our children. She became thrilled with the possibilities of technology for their future. Pat retired from forty years of teaching in 2007. For many years she was excited to hear the words. "Let's Google it Mrs. T!".
Pat was an active member of the Shirley community for many years. She was a member of St. Anthony's Church in Shirley and had taught in the CCD program there. Patty had served as member of the Town of Shirley School Committee from 1979 -1990 and was an avid golfer.
She leaves her husband of 27 years, Brian K. Thorsen; her son, Michael V. Hamel of Ayer; two grandchildren, Amber Cross of Townsend and Stephen M.Hamel of Ayer; her stepchildren, Kathryn Thorsen of Worcester, Robert Thorsen of Rutland; her cousin Kathleen M. Caprioglio and her husband, Lou, of Chatham, NJ.
She was the sister of the late Robert V. Hoylie of Dracut.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at 10Am in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 14 Phoenix St., Shirley. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. There are no calling hours.
