Martiniano was a Chumash Native American born at ranchería Sisulcuí in what is now Ventura County. He was the son of "Liguiguinaguit" (Damían) of ranchería Somés and "Talmenaguan" (Epifiana) of ranchería Matilija. He assumed his Christian name upon his baptism at Mission San Buenaventura July 1, 1793, when he was about 2 months old (SBV Baptism 00732). He married Emerenciana [no surname] at Mission San Buenaventura March 28, 1811 (SBV Marriage 00693). He died at Mission San Buenaventura and was buried in the mission cemetery September 29, 1817 (SBV Death 02088).
