1920 census Chicago: Jacob Lex was living with his second wife Rosa Lex. He was a shoe maker in the family shoe store.

Jacob Lex worked during the last month in his family's shoe store. Last week Monday he went back to his family in Chicago, Ill. He returned back to Appleton, Wisc, where he died later. He was over 70 years old and lived his earlier years in St. Cloud, Minn. with his daughter, Mrs. Math Skumautz. Last Friday she spent time with her Dad on his bed side. His death was unexpected, and his friends hope that he will rest in peace.
