Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 13, 1971 for Homer A. Earl, of 1033 Woodland Beach, Battle Creek, who passed away Sunday morning, October 10, 1971, at an Ann Arbor Hospital. Mr. Earl had been in poor health the past year. Homer A. Earl was born June 5, 1916, the son of Homer and Mary Earl. He resided at Manistee Lake with his parents during his high school years and later his parents moved to Kalkaska. Both his father and mother and a brother, George, preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Kalkaska High School in 1935 and later a graduate of Central Michigan University. He taught school in Kalkaska for two years and at the time of his passing was employed by the State Department of Education in the Driver Education Division. In August of 1937 Mr. Earl was united in marriage to Janet Vipond. Mrs. Earl, two sons, Jon of Grosse Pointe and James in the Air Force at Clavis, New Mexico; and one daughters, Mrs. William (Linda) Ruggles of Cleveland, Ohio; and two grandsons, one brother, Norman of California survive. Services were held in Battle Creek Wednesday with graveside services and interment in Kalkaska Evergreen cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Elder Vernon Bliss officiated.
