Permelia Craig was born in Kentucky, and moved to Jasper County, IL with her parents and siblings. When she was 24, she married James Madison Brenton in Jasper County on the 8th of March, 1854.
They had one daughter, Louisa Ann, who was born 15 Jan 1855. In 1856, James died most likely in Jasper County, IL.
Permelia re-married to David Cook of South Muddy, Jasper County, IL. She died in 1857, possibly in childbirth, because the 1860 census lists David Cook with a 3 year old daughter, Mary Cook. Five year old Louisa is found in the 1860 census living with her grandparents, Thomas and Almira Craig.
A marker has not been found for Permelia.
