Lee E. Aughinbaugh passed away on February 11, 2022 surrounded by family. Lee was born October 13, 1934 in Madison, Kansas to Earl and Lou Ann Aughinbaugh. As a young boy, the family moved to Colorado where he grew up in Fort Lupton. During this time, he met the love of his life and wife of 68 years, Janet. The two started college in Greeley, Colorado, then married on September 6, 1953. The adventurous couple headed to California for their honeymoon and never really left, making a life for themselves in sunny California. Lee had a long career at Alcoa in Vernon, CA and raised two daughters, Debbie Boster (Mark) and Sandra McBeth (Jim). The family moved to Whittier where his family was involved in church and school. Lee spent his free time with his family, working around the house, assisting Debbie and Sandra in their various activities, especially Sandra's sports, enjoying time with friends and regularly vacationing in his beloved mountains of Colorado. With early retirement from Alcoa, Lee enjoyed a lot more travel and participation in kids' and now grandkids' and great-grandkids activities. When Janet retired, the two were able to travel to Australia, all over the United States and even touring the nation's baseball fields. The last 25 years Lee and Janet enjoyed their life in Murrieta, California to the fullest, making lifelong friends and being close to family.
Lee is survived by his wife Janet, daughters Debbie and Sandra, sons-in-law Mark and Jim, grandchildren Jeff, Brad (Jamie), Christine (Brandon) and Shannon, Sean, Katie(Matt) and great-grandchildren Brielle and Benton Boster. Lee is also survived by his sister Shirley Edwards and Susan Brown (Ron), and many nieces and nephews. All of the grandkids and great-grandkids brought much joy to Lee, especially watching their various sports and other activities, including horseback riding and baseball. Lee always loved horses and cherished his memories of riding and hunting in his youth. Lee was a dedicated family man, never had a harsh word for anyone, was always up for anything (wine tasting when he didn't drink wine and a horseback ride in the mountains in his 70's) as long as it was with family and friends. He was loved and will be terribly missed.
